Senior Engineer - ETMS

Responsibilities
The candidate must be able to design, develop, engineer, and install equipment and systems for real-time process control applications in the pulp and paper industry. This responsibility includes developing project scope, cost estimate, equipment specifications, instrument specifications, construction bid packages, project schedule, and execution plans. Will ensure project tasks and objectives are clearly outlined and followed to completion. Will manage financial aspects and will maintain projects on projected budgets. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively to all parties involved, including management.

Job Summary:

  • Perform process control engineering, design evaluations, coordination, and problem analysis of process control systems for the Engineering, Technology and Manufacturing Support Department of Georgia-Pacific. Travel away from the office averages about 50% plus.
  • Professional Engineering License (desirable but not mandatory)
  • Membership and participation in appropriate technical societies - optional.

Duties:

  • The primary responsibility of this person would be to support the ETMS capital projects.
  • The secondary responsibility would be to support the Process Control Center of Excellence leader and his efforts and participate in managing the mill surveys as part of reliability improvements.
  • Provide conceptual design of state-of-the-art process control systems.
  • Prepare specifications, bid packages and bid evaluations for process controls equipment and construction services on small projects.
  • Prepare technical and economic feasibility studies for modifications or additions to process control systems, including benchmarking of existing control system installations.
  • Coordinate, review, and approve process control designs prepared by engineering consultants and vendors.
  • Provide check-out and start-up assistance for new G-P facilities.
  • Analyze problems within existing process control systems and implement recommendations for corrections.
  • Maintain technical competence in the field of process control, including being aware of emerging technologies.
  • Design Industrial data, communication, and control networks, including copper, optical, and wireless.
  • Develop justifications and DMFs as required.
  • Size, specify, and procure a wide range of control equipment.
  • Provide project field support including construction supervision and equipment commissioning.

Education
Candidate for this position would have a BSEE, BSChE, or BSME degree, a background and minimum of ten years experience related to process control systems design for industrial plant operations in the pulp and paper Industry

Basic Qualifications
Candidate must be experienced in the DCS/PLC system design and programming and proficient in application of the industrial instrumentation, including transmitters, controllers, and final control elements. Candidate’s experience must also include selection, configuration, application, and troubleshooting of field instruments, control systems, and final control elements.

A working knowledge of the application of computers, networks, ethernet, and other software to process control is a must. Must be willing to travel and work overtime as needed.

Project Team Leader and Manager

Description:

Provide management and project team leadership in Sustainable Design Consulting’s branch office in Washington, DC, overseeing administration, H. R. management, green building project and training management and the associated teams, and coordination of office-specific fiscal reporting activities. Requirements:

Must be degreed in and have a minimum of 20 years experience in the building industry to provide staff management and project team leadership in green building / LEED consulting projects. Position will work as part of a team to support the mill effort to safely improve the equipment reliability by applying reliability principles such as reliability centered maintenance (RCM), and root cause failure analysis (RCFA) to identify the appropriate predictive and preventative maintenance (PPM) procedures. Responsibilities include: provide technical expertise for equipment maintenance, maintenance standards, and procedures for mill rotating equipment; proactively identify, troubleshoot, and eliminate rotating equipment issues; apply the concepts of precision maintenance to ensure that equipment is repaired, balanced, and aligned to strictly enforce mechanical standards before being placed in service; provide expertise regarding the mechanical functioning and repair requirements of rotating equipment whether high or low speed such as pumps, turbines, gears, and paper machine rolls.

Education

3-5 years plant-related experience in mechanical engineering. Prefer experience with pulp and paper technology and systems. Be flexible and results oriented. Good computer skills.

Job Description

We are currently looking for a qualified individual to join our growing team of Property Condition Assessors and become a member of EBI’s equity assessment team. In this role, you are responsible for the timely completion of property condition assessments or MEP assessments and the associated due diligence reports for commercial real estate transactions.

Candidate Requirements

  • Successful candidates must have a bachelors degree in architecture or engineering, Professional Mechanical Engineer registration, and have demonstrated professional experience with building design, materials, structure and construction, and be familiar with a variety of commercial building types.
  • Minimum of 5 years direct experience assessing income-producing properties (or their MEP systems) in accordance with ASTM E2018-01, with expertise in evaluating mechanical, electrical, plumbing, sprinkler, and elevator components, assessing their condition, and estimating costs to repair, refurbish or replace the components or systems.
  • Experience with alternate energy sources, “green” solutions, and/or new systems technologies, and/or estimating potential operational cost savings will be a plus.
  • Experience designing systems is not necessary, though helpful
  • The candidate must be competent in Word, Excel, and Outlook; be well organized; have excellent time management skills; be self-motivated and a self starter; and have excellent communication and technical report writing skills. EBI employees performing these assessments nationwide, work from a home or regional office, and some overnight travel is required.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
